Are you interested in serving on the Advisory Council of your resort?
Are you interested in representing the interests of your fellow members as
an Advisory Council representative? Each Club has, once the resort has been eighty percent sold, its own
Advisory Council comprised of five members who each serve a five-year term. The duties of this group include
the review of financial statements for the current year’s operations at the club, all reports presented by
the Resort Management relative to the maintenance and operation of the club, the projected budgets for the
following year and proposed Club Service Fees to be paid per interval based upon the reviewed budget for the
club. They also study maintenance and fixed assets programs, proposals for new services and amenities,
cost-efficiency projects, policies, insurance, occupancy and currency exchange issues, guest satisfaction
survey results, and much more.
Advisory Council members must be available for a week of meetings each year in Cancun (in October) and they
must remain members in good standing within the club they serve and any other clubs they are members of. In
a commitment to foster participation by the largest number of Royal Resorts members, and because of the
extremely high interest for these positions, members may only serve a single five-year term in a lifetime.
To be eligible to stand for election to the Advisory Council, the following requisites apply:
- You must have been a member at the resort you wish to represent for at least three years.
- You must have two or more units/intervals at the club you wish to represent or at least one at your home
club and one or more at one of the sister clubs. In the case of biennials, suites or lock-offs, the
member shall own four or more units/intervals of which at least two must be in the Club and two or more
in sister clubs. For all clubs, at least one of the units/intervals must have been acquired directly
from the Membership Company and not through a resale or title change.
- Members at The Royal Sands and The Royal Haciendas must have two or more units/intervals and/or Vacation
Interests in the Club, or at least one in the Club and one or more in the other sister Clubs. In the
case of Vacation Interests, the number of Points must be that needed to reserve two or more
units/intervals for at least one week in the Club. In the case of biennials, suites or lock-offs, the
member shall own four or more units/intervals of which at least two must be in the Club and two or more
in sister clubs.
- You must be at least 25 years old.
- You must be a member in good standing at your club and any others that you are a member of.
- Members who do not meet the requirements set forth in the Rules may contact the Resort Operations
Director to schedule a personal interview to present their application and curriculum.
