COVID-19 tests required for US, Canadian and United Kingdom travelers

COVID-19 tests required for US, Canadian and United Kingdom travelers

As another measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries are now requiring a negative COVID-19 test for all inbound travelers. The test must be performed 72 hours prior to departure and documentation of the test results presented to the airline (written or electronic copy).

In the case of the United States, these new rules are effective from January 26 and apply for all international passengers and US citizens returning home. (This applies even if their final destination is another country but they are on a connecting flight, which first enters the United States.) The test required is the nasal swab (viral antigen test or nucleic acid amplification test). Children aged two and older must also be tested.

Travelers who have been infected with COVID-19 and have recovered during the last three months must show proof of the positive test result and documentation of recovery from a licensed healthcare provider giving them clearance to travel.

There are other details for travelers including an Attestation, for full information we recommend that you visit the CDC website.  https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/fr-proof-negative-test.html

Canada and the United Kingdom recently introduced new rules requiring that all arriving passengers show proof of a negative COVID-19 result using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction test (PCR test). In the case of Canada, this new ruling also applies for children over the age of five.

Anyone who receives a negative test result and is authorized to travel must still complete the mandatory quarantine period upon arrival at their final destination. In the United States this is seven days and in Canada 14 days. In the case of the United Kingdom all inbound passengers must fill in a passenger locator form and self-isolate for 10 days regardless of the test result.
