Traveling to Cancun
We would like to share information about reports of shots being fired on Playa Langosta in Cancun the morning of December 7. The incident involved several men on jet skis who discharged firearms in the sea in front of Oasis Palm Resort before fleeing. The National Guard was quickly on the scene and is conducting an investigation. No one was hurt.
We would like to stress that The Royal Cancun was not affected and that our resort is safe and ready to welcome members and guests for their vacation.
Royal Resorts has the security and comfort of its guests as its top priority. Security guards patrol the resorts and the beaches 24 hours a day. There are closed circuit cameras in public areas and other key locations. There are also check points at the entrance of the resorts to monitor and control vehicles entering the premises.
Overall, the Mexican government has further boosted security in the Mexican Caribbean with an additional National Guard brigade to patrol in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
Our advice is to continue with your vacation plans. It is safe to travel to Cancun, the Riviera Maya, and the Yucatan Peninsula.
