Restaurant Manager Mario Omar Aguilar retires

After 26 years at Royal Resorts, Restaurant Manager Mario Omar Aguilar has retired. Many members will remember him from The Royal Cancun or years earlier at The Royal Caribbean, and we are sure you will want to join us in wishing him a happy retirement.

Mario joined Royal Resorts in October 1997, recruited as a waiter in Tradewinds restaurant at The Royal Caribbean. In January 1998, he was promoted as head waiter and in May 1998, was appointed Food & Beverage Assistant for the resort, also supporting The Royal Mayan and The Royal Islander, a post in which he gained administrative and managerial experience. In 2005, he was appointed as Restaurant Manager at The Royal Caribbean.

In 2014, Mario Omar was transferred to The Royal Cancun with managerial responsibility for La Palapa and later for La Trattoria too. In 2023, he moved to The Royal Sands as Restaurant Manager.

Pablo Chuc, Restaurant Manager at The Royal Haciendas, remembers Mario Omar as the best head hunter and the person who persuaded him to accept the position of head waiter and move from The Royal Islander where he was a waiter in Cayo Largo and The Royal Islander delegate. He convinced him, despite Pablo’s concerns and he never looked back. He says, “Mario was always a good team leader, looking out for his staff, and he became a close friend over the years. I wish him all the best.”

Enrique Dzib, Manager at Gran Salón Hacienda Sisal and previously at Captain’s Cove, said, “I worked with Mario Omar at The Royal Caribbean when he was head waiter at Tradewinds and I was starting my Royal Resorts career as a waiter. Customer service was everything to him and he focused on training us to look after our members and guests. He helped us with our English, on how to recommend the chef’s specials and more. He was always smiling, positive, and had a good relationship with his staff, the key to being a good leader. I used to watch him interact with our diners, he was very attentive. Over the years, he made friends with members who used to come back year after year and ask about him, even when he had moved to The Royal Cancun. When I was transferred to a different restaurant, we kept in touch and we were always ready to lend a helping hand to each other whenever it was needed. I wish him happiness in his retirement.”

Luis Muñoz, Restaurant Manager at The Royal Cancun adds, “I was lucky to work with Mario Omar, he was an excellent team leader who knew how to motivate and inspire us, so that we made the most of our potential. He had a good eye and paid attention to every detail. We learned from him and it helped us as we pursued our own careers and reached the positions we are in today. He’ll always be with us and now he can look forward to enjoying life with his family after a job well done.”

We thank Mario Omar for his work and join his teammates and friends in wishing him a happy retirement and all the best for the future.
