2026 MUNICIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL FEES
The Environmental Sanitation Tax for 2026 charged by the Municipal governments of Cancun and the Riviera Maya to all hotel and resort guests in their districts is as follows.

The Royal Cancun and The Royal Sands
The fees that will be automatically charged to your account when you stay.
Room/Jr. Suite $82.36 pesos per night
One-bedroom Suite $82.36 pesos per night
Two-bedroom Villa $164.72 pesos per night
The Royal Haciendas
If you are staying at The Royal Haciendas in the municipal district of Solidaridad in the Riviera Maya, the fees are charged per person per night and are as follows:
First person $33.94 pesos per night
Second person $22.63 pesos per night
Third person $16.97 pesos per night
Fourth, fifth and sixth person $11.31 pesos per night
No charge for children under 12 years old
Puerto Morelos
If you are staying at Grand Residences, the Municipal Environmental Fee is$67.88 per room/door per night and will be multiplied by 2, 3 or 4 depending on the size of the unit you are staying in.
The Environmental Fee is in Mexican pesos and is not covered by the Member Club Service Fee or by All-Inclusive or European Plan room rates.
The municipal governments use the proceeds from the Environmental Tax to contribute to environmental protection, sanitation, and community initiatives in their area. They include:
- Beach cleaning, conservation and upkeep
- Water treatment
- Waste collection
- Reduction of carbon emissions
- Installation of LED lighting
- Reef conservation
- Reforestation
- Other programs geared towards making the Mexican Caribbean a sustainable destination
