In Memoriam

It is with profound sadness that we share news of the loss of a much-loved member of the Grand Residences and Royal Resorts family, Cuauhtémoc Luna Peralta known as Octavio, Concierge Manager for the Sales department in Grand Residences.

Royal Resorts Foundation News: we reached the goal!

A heartfelt thank you! Family helps family in times of crisis and your love and support has meant so much to so many. With your help we have changed lives.

Your generosity enabled the Royal Resorts Foundation to support the 1,230 employees at Royal Resorts and Grand Residences most affected by the COVID-19 economic crisis. For four months, this group of housekeepers, waiters and kitchen staff, bellboys and porters have received food cards to use at local supermarkets and it has helped them weather the storm.

Welcome home! The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander, The Royal Haciendas and The Royal Cancun are open again

We are open and thrilled to see our Royal Resorts family again. On June 13 and June 20, staff gave a warm and very Mexican welcome home to members and guests arriving during the day at The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander, The Royal Haciendas and The Royal Cancun.

The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander and The Royal Haciendas, June 13
Wearing traditional dress, the Social Activities team were on hand at all three resorts to greet each arriving van with rattles, streamers, Mexican music and dance. Management representatives and employees from the Front Desk, Concierge, Housekeeping, Security, Food & Beverages, the Spa, Media and other departments also joined in the applause as members and guests alighted from their vans and cars and waited as bellboys sprayed their luggage before escorting them into the lobby for a welcome drink and check-in. At 3 p.m. at The Royal Sands and The Royal Islander, the Social Activities team thanked everyone for coming at a welcome cocktail on the pool deck where not even a heavy shower could dampen the happiness of members, guests or their hosts.

At The Royal Haciendas in the Riviera Maya, staff also welcomed members and guests with our hallmark hospitality, joy and touches of Mexican tradition. Many were wearing sombreros and traditional dress and all greeted guests with the customary Yucatan gesture of the hand placed over the heart. There was music, streamers and clapping and in the lobby several of the housekeepers performed the traditional jarana dance from the Yucatan.
Members and guests received welcome cocktails and cookies with Mexican icing in the lobby and were invited to a flower arch to have their photo taken with staff. The celebrations continued into the evening with the Mexican Fiesta and a mariachi serenade.

June 20 at The Royal Cancun
On June 20, led by the Activities team, Management representatives and bellboys Jeremías and Reynaldo, a group of employees from different departments at The Royal Cancun welcomed members and guests with deafening applause, cheers, background mariachi music and dance.

“We are so happy to be back,” “We have been counting the days,” “We have been looking forward to this so much, it’s great to be here,” are some of the words we heard from arriving members on both days. Some were overjoyed to see Royal Resorts friends again and all were looking forward to their vacation and their first dip in the Caribbean.

Staff welcomed arriving members and guests wearing their masks, respecting social distancing rules and all other hygiene protocols now in place as part of the new Royal Care Standard health and safety program to make home away from home cleaner and safer than ever for you and your family.

We look forward to welcoming owners, members and guests to Grand Residences on July 4.

The Royal Care Standard, new health and safety measures at Royal Resorts

The Royal Care Standard, new health and safety measures at Royal Resorts

At Royal Resorts, the health and wellbeing of our guests and employees is our top priority. We have always operated to the highest cleaning and sanitation standards, but the COVID-19 challenge requires raising them even more. The Royal Care Standard is a new level of care and hygiene, part of our continued commitment to your health and safety.

The Royal Care Standard comprises additional hygiene and sanitization protocols for guest rooms, public areas, offices and back of house where staff work behind the scenes, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Mexican Department of Health and the World Health Organization.

The new measures that will be in place when the resorts reopen range from the use of face masks by staff and social distancing to new sanitation procedures in rooms, activity centers and kids clubs, the Spa and gyms, restaurants and bars, as well as convenience stores. We are also using digital technology to give members and guests contactless options, for example using the Royal Resorts App for check in and check out and QR codes to consult menus online.

Here are some examples of Royal Care Standard measures:

  • Practice social distancing  and avoiding physical contact when attending guests.
  • Widespread availability of hand sanitizer gel for guests and staff to use throughout the resorts. Arriving members and guests will find a hygiene kit in their room that includes hand sanitizer, face masks and wipes.
  • Incorporation of additional sanitation protocols and disinfectants in our daily room cleaning procedures, including extra cleaning for frequently touched surfaces and soft furnishings.
  • Around the resorts, high traffic areas and surfaces such as tables, door handles, elevator buttons and handrails will be cleaned and disinfected even more frequently during the day.
  • Changes to seating plans and operating protocols in restaurants and bars.
  • Sports gear, games, Kids Club toys, gym equipment and fitness machines are cleaned and disinfected after each use.
  • Vans and buses are cleaned and sanitized after each journey. Passenger numbers will be reduced to allow for social distancing. Luggage will be sprayed before being stowed in vans and on arrival at the resort.

We will be sharing more detailed information on the Royal Care Standard in the weeks to come as we prepare for your return.
