The Royal Sands receives Clean & Safe Check certification and the Safe Travels seal

The Royal Care Standard, our new level of care and hygiene, follows World Health Organization and Mexican Department of Health hygiene guidelines and government inspectors have visited the resorts to ensure compliance. The Royal Sands is the first of our resorts to receive the Clean and Safe Check certificate from the Quintana Roo Tourism Board and Department of Health. The certification process is underway for the other resorts.
This official certificate also has the Safe Travels seal of approval from the World Travel & Tourism Council.
Cancun, the Riviera Maya and the Mexican Caribbean were the first destinations in the Americas to receive the Safe Travels Global Security Stamp issued by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and backed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for their adherence to new international sanitary security protocols.

The Royal Care Standard, new health and safety measures at Royal Resorts

The Royal Care Standard, new health and safety measures at Royal Resorts

At Royal Resorts, the health and wellbeing of our guests and employees is our top priority. We have always operated to the highest cleaning and sanitation standards, but the COVID-19 challenge requires raising them even more. The Royal Care Standard is a new level of care and hygiene, part of our continued commitment to your health and safety.

The Royal Care Standard comprises additional hygiene and sanitization protocols for guest rooms, public areas, offices and back of house where staff work behind the scenes, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Mexican Department of Health and the World Health Organization.

The new measures that will be in place when the resorts reopen range from the use of face masks by staff and social distancing to new sanitation procedures in rooms, activity centers and kids clubs, the Spa and gyms, restaurants and bars, as well as convenience stores. We are also using digital technology to give members and guests contactless options, for example using the Royal Resorts App for check in and check out and QR codes to consult menus online.

Here are some examples of Royal Care Standard measures:

  • Practice social distancing  and avoiding physical contact when attending guests.
  • Widespread availability of hand sanitizer gel for guests and staff to use throughout the resorts. Arriving members and guests will find a hygiene kit in their room that includes hand sanitizer, face masks and wipes.
  • Incorporation of additional sanitation protocols and disinfectants in our daily room cleaning procedures, including extra cleaning for frequently touched surfaces and soft furnishings.
  • Around the resorts, high traffic areas and surfaces such as tables, door handles, elevator buttons and handrails will be cleaned and disinfected even more frequently during the day.
  • Changes to seating plans and operating protocols in restaurants and bars.
  • Sports gear, games, Kids Club toys, gym equipment and fitness machines are cleaned and disinfected after each use.
  • Vans and buses are cleaned and sanitized after each journey. Passenger numbers will be reduced to allow for social distancing. Luggage will be sprayed before being stowed in vans and on arrival at the resort.

We will be sharing more detailed information on the Royal Care Standard in the weeks to come as we prepare for your return.

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we share news of the loss of much-loved members of our Royal Resorts family.

luis

Armando Ramírez Huertero

Originally from Mexico City, Armando Ramírez joined Royal Resorts 21 years ago. A member of the Security Department, he worked at The Royal Sands.

On behalf of Armando’s family, his son sent this eulogy:

A warrior in life

You were a great teacher, always showing us the importance of doing the right thing and having values. You were a friend who was always there for us, and above all, a model father who will always leave a mark on the lives of his children, a father who loved us and gave everything for us. You always loved your job and you were very dedicated.

You leave a huge hole in our hearts but we know that you are in the hands of God, an angel watching over us in heaven.
You represent pride and so much respect, you were always so loyal and true; we love you, our tireless warrior

Rest in peace

Armando’s colleagues in the Security Department also paid tribute.

We remember and honor a great person; Armando was an example for many. May his memory be eternal. All of us in the Security Department will cherish our memories of our good-hearted colleague and friend.

His family sent this message

In memory of Luis Aguilar Jiménez who was a loving husband, father, son,

brother, friend and workmate.

We dedicate these words in his honor.

While I live, you will live forever because God gave us the gift of memory so that we never forget those we love.

We will never forget you.

With love, your family

Luis’ Security Department workmates added their own tribute.

Thank you for being a great friend, workmate and a great person.

Daniel Erazo, Accounting

Originally from Acapulco, Guerrero, Daniel joined Royal Resorts in 2002 as an Accountant. His smiling face and kindness made him many friends throughout Royal Resorts.

Daniel met his wife Raymunda Chan Balam (Reyna) at Royal Resorts. As they worked in the same department, he asked for a transfer to the Commissary. After several years, he moved back to Accounting.

He leaves two children, his daughter Lilian is 19 and a student at the Universidad del Caribe and his son Daniel is 11 and is at primary school.

His wife sent this message

My experience of life with Daniel Erazo as my husband, my friend and as a person goes back almost 20 years to when he arrived at Royal Resorts. From the outset, I discovered his kindness, warmth and simplicity. Whatever you needed, he would never leave you to cope alone. He would look for a solution. He used to say there is no “I can’t do it”. He would give the shirt off his back to come to someone’s aid or his daily bread to help those in need. He had a heart of gold, strength of character and he was fair too. With that warm smile, he was always ready to help. I cannot say enough about what an incredible person he was. May he rest in peace.

Daniel’s workmates sent these tributes:

I had never met anyone like Daniel Erazo, who thanked every day and every moment for his life and Royal Resorts for the opportunity to grow professionally from the first day he set foot in Quintana Roo. Be happy when serving and helping others was his mantra and he didn’t just say it, his actions were proof of how much it meant to him.

I’ll think of all the moments we lived through and all our experiences together. He was more than a workmate and friend, he was my brother. That’s how I’ll remember him for all time.

Carlos Eber

Daniel was very friendly, always ready to serve and he had an incredible attitude. Many of the condolences that we have received from colleagues from different departments mention those qualities and his values. We all mourn the passing of our workmate and friend.

Luis Sierra

Daniel was happy with his life, grateful to his departmental heads and to Royal Resorts. He always used to say “blessed Royal Resorts.”

Even when times were bad, Daniel was always there and even in the worst moments he did his best to stay positive and keep working.

It was evident to all of us that Daniel’s actions in the office, all his qualities and values, were reflected in his personal life too. He would do anything to help a friend.

He was a great person and we will all miss him.

Tomas Uscanga

I’ll always remember his generosity. Last Mother’s Day he gave all the Moms in the department a rose and on your birthday he would play the Las Mañanitas song. He tried to make people happy.

One Christmas he dressed up as Santa and he always sang when we cut the birthday cake. It didn’t matter if people laughed; he wanted us to enjoy the moment.

Our department won’t be the same without him, but we will keep our good friend Daniel Erazo in our hearts.

May he rest in peace.

Angelica Medina

I have only good memories of Daniel. He was one of those people who never say no; in fact the word didn’t exist for him. It didn’t matter what the request was or how busy he was at the time, whatever we asked him to do he would always help us.

I remember that Daniel often called us in the Treasury department to ask for our help in disputing bank chargebacks so that employees were not charged fees for transactions that weren’t theirs. He took each case to heart, trying to help.

I’ll never forget his inimitable way of answering or talking to his workmates, he always began with his customary “Estimadisimo,”, then the greeting and the subject and, “I know that you are very busy…”

We are going to remember Dany as that person with a big smile, a positive attitude and one mission, to ALWAYS help.

We will miss you Dany and I am sure that wherever you are…you’ll be illuminating those around you with your passion for helping and your wonderful smile.

Godspeed, my Royal Resorts brother.

Carlos Sansores

All of us at Royal Resorts will cherish our memories of Luis and Daniel. We are sure that you will want to join us in sending your thoughts and prayers to their families during this difficult time.

Some 890 employees at Royal Resorts and Grand Residences are affected and need support. The Royal Resorts Foundation has launched the COVID-19 Employee Relief Fund appeal to help them.
