Second Royal Resorts Foundation Race raised $214,000 pesos for charity
With the proceeds from the Second Royal Resorts Foundation Race in February, work will soon begin to rebuild the derelict house of 74-year-old Maclovio Tun and his family, wife Carmen who is in a wheelchair and their son Reyes who has cerebral palsy.
A total of $214,000 pesos was raised from race inscriptions and sponsor donations, almost triple the amount collected in 2016. The number of competitors also increased, 493 competitors of all ages took part in the 3, 5 or 10-kilometer races, a 3-kilometer walk and a Children’s Fun Run.
The Royal Resorts Foundation and Pro Niños Excepcionales A.C., a Cancun NGO working with children with special needs, will be able to improve the quality of life for Maclovio and his family by creating a safe, healthy and comfortable home for them with ramps, mobility aids, a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.
